Brendan Schaub Has Volunteered To Pay For All Of UFC Fighter Ray Borg's Son's Medical Bills Going Forward

This past March, UFC Flyweight Ray Borg welcomed a son, Anthony, who was unfortunately born prematurely and diagnosed with hydrocephalus – excess fluid in the brain – shortly after his birth. Anthony has suffered plenty of seizures over the past year, has gone through multiple brain surgeries (the most recent taking place at the end of August), and had a shunt placed in his nose just to breathe. He’s been a true warrior through it all – the entire Borg family the same – as they are currently going through a worse struggle than I could ever imagine. The struggle doesn’t end emotionally/mentally, either, though, as medical bills continue to pile up.

A GoFundMe page to help the Borgs out has been founded – raising over $36,000 so far (with an original goal of $20,000), and Borg is selling a new shirt with all proceeds going to his son’s recovery fund, but that wasn’t enough for friend of the program Brendan Schaub.

Schaub, on the Joe Rogan Experience, got extremely emotional when speaking about Anthony Borg, a child he has no connection to – Schaub has never even met or spoke to Ray Borg – and revealed that he has been trying to get in touch with Ray himself to pay for all of Anthony’s medical bills from here on out. It seems as a new father, something really struck a chord with Schaub about how lucky he is, watching Anthony’s medical struggles rake up over the past few months, and as he put it, “Dude, I’m so fortunate, I can’t just take and take and take.”

Schaub wants to give, and give to Ray Borg.

He said he messaged the UFC Flyweight about covering Anthony’s bills on Twitter, and didn’t mean to bring it up on the Joe Rogan Experience for publicity, but wanted Borg to know that the offer was 100% serious and genuine, which…to put blatantly, is just incredible, dude.

Schaub doesn’t know what the amount is, he doesn’t even have a ballpark estimate, but he’s ready and willing to change this little boy’s life. He also flipped a perfect emotional —> comedic switch when discussing this plan with Joe, that went like this:

Joe Rogan: “So, how much money does he need to raise?”

Brendan Schaub: “I don’t know, but I’m fuckin’ rich.”

Hopefully Borg takes the former UFC Heavyweight and current host of The Fighter & The Kid, Below The Belt, and Bravo’s Play by Play up on his extremely generous offer.

As someone that’s been lucky enough to get to know Brendan Schaub a bit over the past year or so thanks to KFC, this was no surprise to me. Whenever anybody asks me who the kindest celebrities or famous people “in the industry” I’ve met since starting at Barstool, there are two names that IMMEDIATELY come to mind: Brendan Schaub and Megan Olivi. Schaub is such a genuine, down the earth dude who is always just trying to make people laugh and have a good time. He’s a brilliant businessman, of course, basically building a podcasting empire and transitioning fully from fighter to comic (and a monster comic at that), but still – when I think of Brendan, I just think of a good dude. He’s looked out for me plenty of times he didn’t have to, and he’s looked out for others when he doesn’t have to. He used to pay his opening comics double when he took them on the road with him, and he never accepts pay for open mic nights, instead opting for someone on the staff to be paid the money instead. You really don’t find many like him in this world, and I hope people will start to realize that soon if they haven’t already, and hopefully this WHOLE ordeal brings a hell of a lot more attention to Anthony’s GoFundMe, which can be found below, to lighten the load on both of these dudes now!

Hats off to you, Brendan. Respect.
