A Very Interesting Alliance Has Formed Between Conor McGregor and "The Man" Becky Lynch
Over Thanksgiving break, we saw a very interesting alliance develop between two Irishmen on Twitter…
…the Irishmen obviously being the Champ Champ, Conor McGregor, and “THE MAN”/WWE SmackDown Women’s Champ, Becky Lynch, and my sources tell me this all came following a conversation between Becky Lynch and an integral member of Team McGregor who was backstage at Survivor Series, meaning this could potentially be a bit more than just some Twitter chirpin’, which makes ME very excited!
If you’re not a wrestling fan, and don’t know who Becky Lynch is, she’s basically the most popular wrestler in the world right now – and rightfully so. After years of being held back by the WWE, and not necessarily being given the spotlight she should’ve, the company turned her heel this year and the fans just decided that was the final straw, and that they wouldn’t do anything but cheer for Becky – and DEMAND Becky – at every possible turn. So she’s taken advantage of that circumstance moreso than anybody in recent history has taken advantage of anything in the WWE in what has to be YEARS (I don’t think anybody other than maybe 2013 Daniel Bryan has been this over in the past decade), and basically put herself in a position to main event WrestleMania against Ronda Rousey this year. No other match makes sense in that spot (except a triple threat between the two and Charlotte Flair). It was actually supposed to take place at this year’s Survivor Series event until Becky was sidelined with a concussion/broken face due to a legit punch that she took from Nix Jax on Monday Night RAW a few weeks back…
…which only made The Man’s legend grow stronger, and the match with Rousey more anticipated, of course.
Soooooo, now that you’re up to speed on Lynch, and have seen the little exchange she shared with McGregor above…let’s talk about when Becky may need Proper backup:
Let me set the scene for you. It’s April 7th, 2019. WrestleMania has been phenomenal, best it’s been in years, and the sun dove into the beautiful, swampy New Jersey horizon a while ago. It’s time for the main event…Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch…and a fog fills the stadium. Sinead O’Connor’s “Foggy Dew” begins to blare as everything becomes lit green, and the screens at MetLife cut to a shot of “The Man” on her way to the ring, UFC-walkout style, backed by Finn Bálor, Sheamus, Fit Finlay, Killian Dain…and Conor McGregor, the tri-color draped over his shoulders. As “Foggy Dew” climaxes, Becky’s theme hits, and EIGHTY THOUSAND RABID WRESTLING FANS all sing along in unison.
