Michigan Absolutely Destroys Texas A&M To Advance To The Elite Eight

Well, this one wasn’t close from the get go. Michigan destroyed Texas A&M 99-72 to advance to the Elite Eight and continues to be one of the hottest teams in the country.

Tonight was an absolute ass kicking from the get go, especially when Texas A&M decided to run 2-3 zone. This was the problem with this matchup for Texas A&M. They want to play Bob Williams and Tyler Davis together, but they can’t guard teams man-to-man that run small ball like Michigan. So instead, they wanted to run a 2-3 zone that was just absolutely atrocious. The guards extended way too high, which just left the top of the key open, which Michigan just exploited. At one point, Michigan had seven made threes, from seven different guys.

The beautiful part of the offense though was the passing by Michigan. They had 21 assists on 38 made field goals. I just can’t stress how much of an ass kicking it was. That’s all there is to say. Don’t run zone against Michigan, because its too good of a passing team. But, if you have two bigs, you better not try to run both of them together. We saw this already when Michigan beat Michigan State twice this year.

Michigan moves on to play the winner of Gonzaga/Florida State for a right to get to the Final Four. Michigan was led by Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman’s 24 points and Mo Wagner’s 21 points.
