Do You Think This Teenager Passed Or Failed Her Driver's License Test?
(Source)- A teenage driver’s attempt to get her license didn’t go so well. In fact, her behind-the-wheel test on Wednesday in Buffalo, Minn., failed at the start as she crashed into the driver’s examination station before she even got on the road. The 17-year-old from Monticello inadvertently put the 2014 Chevy Equinox in drive instead of reverse as the test began about 2 p.m. bringing the test to a halt. When she stepped on the accelerator, the vehicle lurched forward, jumped the curb and plowed through the front of the station in a strip mall on 1st Avenue S., said Buffalo Police Chief Pat Budke.
She was not hurt, but her vehicle suffered significant damage, the chief said. The license examiner, a 60-year-old female from Buffalo, was taken to a local hospital with noncritical injuries. No one inside the office was hurt, but the crash damaged the building’s brick wall and glass windows, Budke said.
Look, I’m not here to get on a kid for failing her driver’s license test. Everyone that took their driving test knows how terrifying it is. Nothing but butterflies tossing grenades in your stomach from the time you enter the car until the time you leave. The most important Rite of Passage in a high schooler’s life is passing their driver’s test so they can get the fuck out of their parent’s house whenever they want. You can’t climb to the top of that popularity ladder in the real life Game of Thrones that is high school social standing if you are relying on someone else for rides. Back when I was in high school, there were urban legends about where to take your test. There were two towns where you could take the test. Both were about the same in terms of difficulty but one town had an examiner who was simply known as The Fat Lady. If you got The Fat Lady on your first attempt, you were cooked before you even started. She was Mo Rivera of driving tests. You stepped up to the plate and were promptly sat down. She would have failed a full grown Jason Bourne his first time taking the test. Needless to say I went to the other town and passed my first time.
But no matter where you take your test or who is grading you, I feel like “Crashing into a building” is an auto F. I guess if your instructor has a sense of humor, you can drop a “That building came out of nowhere!” joke and mayyyyybe get a chuckle that could stop you from instantly failing. But once you drive your car through the bricks of a building like the Andy Reid Kool Aid gif, it’s over.
And if you send the examiner to the hospital it’s definitely over. Super over. In fact, this girl has probably already failed her 2nd test that she hasn’t even taken yet. Urban legends have likely already spread in the driving test instructors circles about The Girl From Monticello that can get behind the wheel and make your like flash before your eyes in less than 30 seconds just by putting the car in drive.
Finally, you knew I had to include video of the infamous Milton Car Accident of 2016 in this blog.
