Just So We All Know, The Nashville Predators Are Winning The Stanley Cup As Soon As Eeli Tolvanen Joins The Team
If you’re just a casual hockey fan, there’s a chance that you’re not too familiar with the name Eeli Tolvanen just yet. Tolvanen was the 30th overall pick in the 2017 draft to Nashville. He was supposed to be playing at BC this year but I guess some shit got all mixed up with his paper work in Finland and he wasn’t able to play here in the NCAA. So he’s been playing this season with Jokerit in the KHL and the kid has been lighting it up. I wrote about his 4 goal performance in his debut earlier this season and you can check that out right here. He lit up the KHL all year and put up 36 points in 49 games. He’s had 5 goals in his 9 playoff games so far. He also played for Finland at the World Juniors and for Team Finland at the Olympics last month. He had 9 points in 5 games at the Olympics as an 18-year-old. Not too bad.
But yeah. Tolvanen has been having an absurd year especially for an 18-year-old. He played in the KHL, played at the World Juniors, played at the Olympics, and now he’ll be joining the Preds for their playoff run. They’re currently the best team in the league, they have a +58 goal differential, and they’re about to get even better offensively. Think about what Nashville has been able to do this year. They went to the Stanley Cup Final last year. This year they keep their entire lineup defensively, and now they add Kyle Turris, Nick Bonino and now Eeli Tolvanen. Not to mention they also have a healthy Kevin Fiala back. Down the middle they have Johansen, Turris, Bonino and Mike Fisher. Then they have Filip Forsberg, Viktor Arvidsson, Kevin Fiala, Ryan Hartman, Scott Hartnell and Eeli Tolvanen on the wings. Nashville’s forward group is fucking STACKED.
And on the back end? Roman Josi, Ryan Ellis, Mattias Ekholm and PK Subban. Not a bad top 4. Especially when you get to play in front of a Vezina candidate like Pekka Rinne.
Sooooo yeah. I just wanted to make sure we are all on the same page here before the playoffs get underway. Tolvanen is going to join the Predators this week and now they’re going to win the Stanley Cup. There’s nothing we can do about it. We just have to sit back and watch it happen. A dream scenario now would just be Nashville vs Tampa in the Final. Both teams have an elite forward group, an elite blue line, and an elite tendy between the pipes. I say everybody should just be chill and let it play out that way. The hockey world deserves a Bolts vs Preds Final.
