The Most Disrespectful Goal So Far In College Lacrosse This Year Came From DIII Bates College
Just take a look at that scoreboard real quick. It’s 12-2 at pretty much the start of the 3rd quarter. Bates is man up and the game is already over. They could easily just throw in their 2’s and call it a day for the starters. Let a few younger guys get some experience out there by playing an entire half. Maybe even let a few of the seniors who don’t find themselves on the field that often have themselves a day. But what do the Bates Bobcats do?
Matt Chlastawa (#45) slings a BTB feed to Brendan Mullally (#55) who is wide the fuck open on the crease and finishes it off with a little BTB of his own. That right there, boys and girls, is how you completely demoralize a team. That’s how you send a team back to the bus for their ride home and contemplate quitting the sport for good. It can’t be worth it at that point. All the practicing. All the conditioning. All the early morning lifts. For what? To end up on SportsCenter on the receiving end of the #1 play of the day? No thank you, sir.
And I loved every second of it. I’ve been saying this for years–sportsmanship is the most overrated thing on the planet. Especially once you get past high school. Those kids were all brought to Keene St. to play lacrosse. If you don’t want to get BTB’d to death, maybe think about recruiting better. If you can’t recruit better? Well then tough shit. That’s life sometimes. There are winners and there are losers. You can’t get mad at the winners for winning. Blame the losers for losing. Not just on the lacrosse field but in all aspects. It just happens that when we see winners absolutely dominate the losers on the lacrosse field, it’s extremely entertaining.
