Reveille: West Point Superintendent, Lt General Caslen, Killed A Deer By Drowning It In A Creek

Hey. It’s me. Your friend Uncle Chaps who thinks Olive Garden is fancy. Anyway, here’s a Capt Connor article

I came across this tweet from Rob Caslen, the son of West Point’s Superintendent LTG Robert Caslen Jr. who once drowned a stubborn deer with his bare hands. Why? Well, my guess is that he had a hankering for venison because that is a delicious versatile meat. Burgers, steaks, jerky, it’s all deadly. So, he prepped his rifle and camo and went on the hunt- Fred Bear style. Alone in the wilderness, he spotted a magnificent buck. I’m told it was a 12 pointer. He brought his rifle to his shoulder, fired his shot, and took the buck down. As LTG Caslen approached his kill, he saw that the stubborn buck refused to go toward the light. What was the humane thing to do as the buck attempted to flee? Grab it by the antlers, drag it to the nearby creek, and hold that damn buck under water until it drowned, of course. Watch him tell the story here.

So I see this tweet and my heart about leaped from my chest.

Reese Witherspoon! Elle Woods!

Reese is currently one of the women successfully leading the charge for equality in Hollywood and one of the women universally loved for her work on and off the screen. Did you see Big Little Lies? Spoiler: the bad guy husband, who also stars in Generation Kill which we will be reviewing this week, dies.

Anyway, what is Reese doing at West Point? I needed to know. Is it possible she was there in an effort to meet a graduate from the Class of 2006? Maybe she was looking for a gritty backup QB on the football team who started every game on special teams his senior year? Maybe a boisterous kid from Jersey who wasn’t a model cadet but who looked out for his fellow classmates? Maybe a guy who went on to serve proudly in the Army and deployed to Iraq? Could it be that Reese traveled to the majestic banks of the Hudson in search of this man to befriend him?

No.

According to our guys at @ArmyBarstool, Reese was there doing research for a documentary.

Whatever, that will be cool and all I’m sure. But that’s not that cool for the guy mentioned above.
