Washington State QB Prospect Luke Falk is Obsessed with Tom Brady

WEEIAlmost every quarterback at the NFL combine has followed Tom Brady’s career, but no one as intensely as Washington State quarterback Luke Falk.

Falk takes things to another level, as he models his entire game after the Patriots quarterback. …

All of his Washington State teammates were aware of his Brady obsession — although it wasn’t hard to hide, as Falk constantly walked around campus wearing a TB12 hat.

“Oh my gosh, don’t get me started with that,” offensive lineman Cole Madison, who was also at the NFL combine, said. “Everything Tom Brady. ‘Tom Brady this, Tom Brady that. Tom Brady does this, so this is what we should do.’ He is ride or die Tom Brady, for sure.”

Added wide receiver Tavares Martin: “He loves Tom Brady. Everything single thing about him, every little detail about him.”

Falk was so obsessed, his teammates loved to poke at him when the Patriots and Brady had a bad game. …

This past Super Bowl was the worst for Falk.

“After the Super Bowl, I was pretty heart-broken,” he said. “I got like 20 phone calls and they got under my skin a little bit.” …

The Washington State product’s obsession with Brady even goes all the way to the TB12 Method.

“You know, I got the book,” he said. “I don’t know if I had quite the resources at the time, but I tried to dabble in it. I try to eat healthy and it’s pretty cool.”

I’ve been somewhat interested in checking out Luke Falk. This early in the draft process he’s been ranked somewhere in the 8th to 12th range among quarterbacks, which seems like a sweet spot for the Patriots to find their next Jimmy Garoppolo. So I was looking forward to his Combine workout. And I was the furthest thing from impressed. He threw the ball like a Stormtrooper shoots. His mechanics were all over the place. In fact, one scouting site had this assessment:

Falk was the worst quarterback at the combine, as his accuracy was horrendous. He missed on way too many throws, and it’s difficult to envision him being drafted prior to Day 3

So after that I was prepared to give Falk a wide berth and look elsewhere. But now this? Yeah, no thanks.

What kind of a grown man goes through life obsessed with Tom Brady? Walking around in his merchandise. Buying his book. Trying out the recipes like the Fresh Veggie Lasagna with zucchini instead of pasta and raw cashews instead of cheese. Or the resistance band workouts like the Four-Way Overhead Resisted Foot Fire. Getting harassed because your hero lost another Super Bowl? Probably watching his Tom vs. Time documentaries over and over again. Possibly even this 45 minute video of every pass Brady completed last season …

Who does that?

I mean, Brady is a good quarterback, for sure. Maybe the best ever. You might even say he’s the ultimate human specimen, married the world’s greatest woman and with genetically perfect children. And while I haven’t used the word “heroic,” I’m not not using it, either. But treating him like he’s superhuman or some kind of a god and trying to be more like him is just unseemly. It’s weird and I’d never tolerate a guy like that in New England. So get lost, Luke Falk. I’m scratching this Brady-obsessed creepshow right off my draft board.
