Well, this escalated quickly. Shareef decommitted from Arizona on Saturday and some thought he’d take some time and decide between a couple of different schools – UCLA and Kentucky included. Obviously, UCLA was the clear winner as O’Neal will be joining a loaded recruiting class next year in LA.
UCLA currently has the No. 2 class for 2018 with O’Neal joining 5-star Moses Brown, 4-stars Tyger Campbell, David Singleton and Jules Bernard, 3-star Kenneth Nwuba is also part of the class.
O’Neal decommited from Arizona almost immediately after the ESPN report about Sean Miller discussing $100,000 payment for Deandre Ayton was released. O’Neal, is a 6’9″, 205 lb forward who mimics his dad in the sense of being a good athlete, elite dunker and great shot blocker. He moves well and should be getting up and down the court quickly.
If UCLA is able to hold onto some sort of combo of Aaron Holiday, Jaylen Hands and Kris Wilkes, that team is going to be a preseason top-15/20 team next year. Here’s your obligatory mixtape:
