Good News: The Eagles Fan Who Ran Into That Subway Pole Is Alive And He's Hockey Tough

There’s just something about the Broad Street Line on gamedays. It’s filled with the same level of drunken savagery as the stadiums but the only difference is that you’re underground which adds an entirely new layer of debauchery. If the city just took the electricity from the thousands and thousands of fans packed into the BSL on gamedays, you’d never have to pay another PECO bill again because that shit could power the city for years. Combine that with the fact that Philly was hosting the NFC Championship game for the first time in 13 years and it’s actually more shocking that people weren’t getting taken out by SEPTA left and right. Fortunately for the world, this one was caught on camera from multiple angles and gave birth to one of the best viral moments from a 24-hour period in Philadelphia that couldn’t have been scripted better for the internet.

But there’s still a human element to these viral moments. I know that most people aren’t thinking about it when they’re smashing that RT button, but that’s still an actual dude who probably could have been getting scraped off the tracks if those goes worst case scenario. Is he dead? Was that actually Brian Dawkins? Did his brain turn into a bowl of apple sauce after smacking his head against the train? Thankfully we were able to get the answers to all of those questions and more earlier today.

“Ran into subway pole”

What a whirlwind of events for our guy Jigar Desai. One moment he’s setting himself up for a life of CTE courtesy of the BSL. The next moment he’s watching the Birds punch their ticket to Super Bowl LII. Next moment he’s all over Twitter/Instagram/Social Media, and now he’s doing reenactments with Mike Jerrick in the Fox29 parking garage.

But shoutout to our guy Jigar. Hockey Tough as a mother fucker. Most people would just call it quits there after a near death experience. But not Jigar. Picked himself off the platform floor and played through the pain the rest of the day. A little soreness in his shoulder and chest wasn’t going to stop him from having a day. And that’s what this fanbase is all about. Tough as nails. Gritty as could be. We get knocked down, but we get up again, because you’re never gonna keep us down.
