So It Was A Pretty Decent Weekend To Be A Philly Sports Fan, No?
Last night was an absolute domination. It was a beatdown of biblical proportions. It’s one thing to simply defeat your opponent on the way to the Super Bowl. It’s another level of ruthlessness to have Big Dick Nick Foles mollywhop an entire state in the face with a perfectly placed strike to Torrey Smith off a flea flicker to start the 2nd half.
If you’re from this city and you’ve spent your entire life as a Philly sports fan, you know that this shit just doesn’t happen for us. This is a play right here that either gets picked off or it comes back for holding or whatever. We, as a fanbase, have become conditioned at this point to always have our guard up and prepare for the worst. But not last night. Not the last 72 hours in the city of Philadelphia. Because for at least one weekend, Philadelphia was the most dominant city in the entire world.
You had the Sixers getting a big time win against the Bucks on Saturday night. If the Bucks ownership wants to talk about results, then let’s talk results.
Next up the Flyers had 2 games in the division this weekend. After beating the brakes off of the Devils on Saturday afternoon and then taking down the Caps in overtime as a little appetizer to the Eagles game yesterday, the boys look to be fully recovered from that 10-game losing streak earlier in the year.
And then, oh yeah, the Eagles ended up winning this little game earlier in the day that now has them playing in this thing called the “Super Bowl” in two weeks. Soooooo yeah. Just to recap.
Saturday:
- Flyers win
- Sixers win
Sunday:
- Flyers win
- Eagles win NFC Championship
48 hours of pure dominance from the greatest city in the world. For a city who almost never gets to say this, it is so good to be us. I want to smooch all of you right now.
