The Eagles Are The First No. 1 Seed To Be Underdogs To A No. 6 Seed In NFL History

Can you say you’re surprised? I’m not. The Falcons fucked up the Rams pretty easily. The Eagles have looked like shit in their last two games. The Eagles opened as 2.5 point underdogs and it kind of makes sense.

That said, of the three possible foes against whom the Eagles could be paired, everyone went into this past weekend hoping to face the Falcons. Compared to the juggernaut that is the Saints and the ever dangerous Cam Newton, the Falcons were looking like the most ideal opponent for the Eagles. Then again, after hearing that Dan Quinn has been to 3 of the last 4 Super Bowls about a billion times this weekend, I have reservations about facing them as well.

One has to hope this lights a fire under the Eagles, acts as bulletin board material, locker room fodder, etc. One has to hope that the Falcons are reading their own press clippings and their greedy little Falcon eyes are prematurely focused on the NFC Championship game.

Either way, the intensity better be through the roof on Saturday afternoon.
