The first ever NHL games were played 100 years ago yesterday. On December 19th, 1917, the Montreal Canadiens beat the Ottawa Senators 7-4 and the Montreal Wanderers beat the Toronto Arenas 10-9.
Yesterday, the Montreal Canadiens beat the Vancouver Canucks 7-5 so that was actually a pretty similar game 100 years to the day. The Toronto Maple Leafs, however, decided to beat the shit out of the Carolina Hurricanes and whooped that ass 8-1. Not good for all those people who continuously pick Carolina as their team in the beginning of the season who is finally going to “turn it around”.
