Listen. I’ve been waiting since forever to blog this goal. It’s been more than 2 long, grueling months with my fingers just waiting to dance across the keyboard for this one. Did I think that it would take Travis Sanheim 30 games into the season to score his 1st career NHL goal? No. No I did not. But just over 4 minutes into the 1st period against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday, December 14th in the year of our lord 2017, the Travis Sanheim Era has officially begun.
Travis Sanheim is going to end up being a very good, borderline great defenseman in the NHL. He’s not quite an Ivan Provorov but he’s right up there with Provy and Ghost in terms of the future of the Flyers blueline. He’s had a somewhat quiet start to his NHL career so far this year. He hasn’t been bad but he also hasn’t been anything spectacular. Hopefully now that this first goal is out of the way it just boosts his confidence a bit more at a time when the rest of the team starts to get themselves going as well. All I’m saying is that if Provorov, Gostisbehere and Sanheim all get themselves going at the same time then the rest of the league is in deep, deep shit.
P.S. – Brian Elliott is drunk tonight.
