BIG time night last night. In case you live under a rock or don’t own a television it was the WNBA draft. A see and be seen affair. Now as a WNBA fan myself (thinking about buying Sky season tickets, not joking), I feel like it’s my duty to keep you up to date on what fan bases as the kids these days say, “turnt up” for the draft, and which ones fell flat. You don’t win a WNBA title without a home court advantage, I learned this the hard way in last year’s playoffs. So let’s dive right in. The first annual WNBA Watch Party Watch Blog.

Nice little sports bar setting. Good crowd, a little subdued for my liking but what can you do? It’s Atlanta.

Maybe my favorite picture from Draft Day. No video, just a simple snap and it captures EVERYTHING. The jubilation, the excitement, the shock. If Draft Day was a Roller Coaster (it is) then this would be the sign as everyone enters.

Now I know what you’re thinking when you see this draft party. Hey Big Cat, whatsup with the Sparks bro? They were tied for second in the league for wins last year. They have history, prestige, Lisa Leslie, ever heard of her? Well I agree, but let’s remember, this is 5 oclock west coast time. People have to work, when you factor that in you sort of realize that this group of Ladies are as hardcore as hardcore gets. Probably called in sick or slipped out the backdoor just to make it for the first pick. That’s dedication. You can win with fans like this.

Minnesota Lynx

What the fuck is this? So cocky. Oh look at us we won the WNBA championship last year so now we can make everyone wait in line for a billion years. Such a stuck up move by the Lynx. This is how you lose fans guys, I don’t care how many banners you raise, draft day lines are a big time no no.

On one hand this party sucked, on the other they unveiled new black road uni’s which are scorching lava hot. Look at those things. Fuck I would buy one and I’m not even a Liberty fan.

Oh I guess when you have Diana Tirausi and Britney Griner you don’t have to have a draft party. Is that how it works? Do I have that right? Fucking bush league Mercury. Show your fans an ounce of respect one time, one time.

San Antonio Stars

Also no Draft party but I’m giving them a pass, it was Coach Hughes birthday so between that and the Draft there was a lot going on.

No party but we did get a look into the War Room and it looked INTENSE. Would love to be a fly on that wall. Question – How much basketball knowledge can you fit under one roof? Answer – Washington Mystics draft headquarters.

Off the chain. Total miss on my part. One of the single biggest regrets I will have all week. I needed to be there and you needed me there. Either way, my unbiased grade for the Chicago Sky Draft Party.
