Matthew Tkachuk Just Needs To Learn How To Be Smart About Being Stupid

If you’re not a fan of the way Matthew Tkachuk plays then there’s a good chance you shouldn’t be a hockey fan in the first place. He’s a world-class shit stirrer and the ultimate “player you hate but would love to have on your team”. With that being said…. well this wasn’t exactly what I would refer to as… good.

If there’s one thing that’s going to piss off everybody who already wants a piece of you, it’s going to be spearing a guy who is currently involved in a scrum from the bench. If there’s one thing that’s going to piss of George Parros–the head of the Director of Player Safety–it’s doing exactly what he said he’s going to be cracking down on. Here’s what Parros said about stick infractions before the season.

And you ESPECIALLY don’t want to do that when you know there are cameras all over the rink that are going to catch you, especially when a scrum is right in front of your bench. Was it the most dangerous spear in the world? Not at all. Has everybody at some point or another at least wanted to spear another guy on the ice during a game? 100% for sure. But you can get away with that in your random men’s league. You can get away with that in most college games or junior games or whatever. It’s just going to be a liiiiiiitle harder to get away with a stick to the dick from the bench during an NHL broadcast from Toronto. Like I said. I love the way the kid plays. You just need to learn how to be smart about being stupid.

My best guess would be at least a 1-game suspension considering the NHL is handing out fines for water fights these days. Wouldn’t be surprised to see 2-games just to send a message.

P.S. – Will Ny the Dangles Guy.
