Paul Manafort's Password For Everything: "Bond007"
Business Insider — Those messages apparently contained Manafort’s former email address, uncovered by a security researcher who goes by the online name Krypt3ia. Another researcher discovered that accounts that used this same email address were compromised in two big security hacks: the 2013 Adobe hack, and the 2012 Dropbox hack.
The password hints for the Adobe account were things like “secret agent” and “James Bond.” Those hints basically allowed the researchers to guess that the password itself was “bond007.” The same Bond-inspired password worked for both the Adobe and Dropbox accounts.
Wow whoever cracked this one deserves a nice pat on the back. I guess we got Swordfish working for the FBI now. Took the hints “secret agent” and “James Bond” and deduced Manafort’s password was “bond007″? Incredible. What a talent.
I must say, cases like these are very inspirational. If fucking morons like Paul Manafort can make TENS OF MILLIONS of dollars consulting and laundering and lobbying and whatever-the-fucking for the Russians and get away with it for several years with airtight security like a “bond007″ password for everything, then I’ve got a bright future. I’ve got options. Worst case scenario, shit hits the fan, I burn bridges earning an honest living… I can just sell my soul, pull off the shit Mr. Bond over here pulled off, and buzz around eastern Europe as a millionaire. Sounds kinda nice.
