My Beloved Lady Golf Just Straight Up Cancelled The First Round Of A Major And Reset The Scores
As an ambassador for the lady golf game, I would love to defend this but have to be honest with my readers — this is not a good look. Us advocates for the lady golf game have spent decades validating the sport. We’ve gotten lady golfers in men’s events. We’ve gotten the women’s US Open and the men’s US Open on the same course a week apart. We’ve gotten the Solheim Cup producing a taste of the passion of the Ryder Cup. We’ve gotten 2 professional lady golfers on the popular Fore Play golf podcast.
But this I can’t defend. You cancel the entire first round? Of a major? Because it fucking rained? What? You really couldn’t script a more stereotypically worse look for the lady golf tour than this: “zomg it rained, entire round cancelled, we’ll just start over tomorrow!”
Bad. It’s a major championship — you grind that shit out. Play 36 holes Friday if need be. Play into Monday if need be. Is the fact that we’re in France the issue here? Strict federal law prohibiting working more than 5 hours a day? Working 4 days in a row? Not allowed to work on weekdays?

PS — How about Jessica Korda, was tied for the lead at 2-under except now not.
