Love This Newscaster Who Resigned On Air Because Putin Was Mean To Her (I May Have Dumbed This Down Just A Touch)

(CNN) — Another member of state-funded Russia Today made waves on Wednesday — not by standing behind Moscow, as the news network is wont to do, but by bucking it. From the anchor chair, Liz Wahl closed a show — as seen in video which she later tweeted — talking about the “ethical and moral challenges” she faces working for Russia Today, also known as RT. She spoke of being from a family who fled to America to escape Soviet forces during the 1956 Hungarian revolution, being the daughter of a U.S. military veteran and being the partner of a physician who works at a U.S. military base. “And that is why, personally, I cannot be part of a network funded by the Russian government that whitewashes the actions of Putin,” Wahl said, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I’m proud to be an American and believe in disseminating the truth,” she added. “And that is why, after this newscast, I’m resigning.”

Boom. Got Em! Fucking stood right up to big bad Putin and the whitewashing of his stories by the media. Liz Wahl, smoke newscaster. Liz Wahl, revolutionary? I don’t know but this whole speech got me a little turned on. Just standing up for what you believe in, fighting the man right in his face. And I agree Liz, the fucking media IS a joke Liz. They whitewash everything. They have an agenda. That’s why you need to come work for Barstool Sports. Agenda? None. Editor telling you what to do? Doesn’t exist. Grammar not great? No worries Liz, we don’t worry about frivolous things like spelling and subject verb agreement. You just say what you want to say in a stream of consciousness and that’s about it. Oh and also your career will probably never be the same because you’re technically a 29 year old smut blogger (in my case at least), but that’s just a silly little detail that people with “careers” and a “future” think about. So welcome aboard Liz, glad to have you. Now tell me more about this boyfriend of yours, is this like an open relationship or something?

The time between the word “partner” and the clarification that it was in fact a “he” was a wonderful 10 seconds filled with all types of really cool thoughts.
