New Study Suggests Beer Is The Key To Mental Clarity

Source - Drinking beer boosts your creativity by inspiring more “Eureka” moments, a study found. Researchers say “mild intoxication” helped drinkers relax and cleared mental blocks. This increased their problem-solving abilities by a fifth.

The scientists, from the University of Graz, Austria, warn more than a pint may hamper creativity. Study leader Mathias Benedek said: “While many activities usually benefit from high cognitive control, some may actually suffer from too much focus.

“Alcohol may reduce fixation effects by loosening the focus of attention and therefore impede the building and maintenance of dominant but inappropriate thoughts.” He added: “The findings should not be overgeneralized by assuming that creativity is generally supported by alcohol.

Beneficial effects are likely restricted to very modest amounts of alcohol, whereas excessive alcohol consumption typically impairs creative productivity.” The findings are published in the journal Consciousness and Cognition.

I’m a big science guy. I love science. There are some things I don’t understand, like how the earth is round when every map of it is flat, but I trust the experts. One could even say I #trusttheirprocess. But this whole “one beer” makes you more creative thing is a joke. Sure, the one drink philosophy may be true for some people but to call it a statement of fact is irresponsible.  Take Bills fans for example; theres no way Pinto Ron Kenny  and the dildo brothers found their creative genius after a single glass of Pino. Granted most people who drink like they do would find themselves peeing in a dresser drawer, but that’s not the point.  Drinking is unique to the drinker.

The article sounds more like they’re making a PSA on overindulgence:

“Beneficial effects are likely restricted to very modest amounts of alcohol.”

“The scientists, from the University of Graz, Austria, warn more than a pint may hamper creativity.

Researchers say “mild intoxication” helped drinkers relax and cleared mental blocks.”

Which is a tall order. Having a single beer at the bar is rarer than a one man alt-right attack. It was a nice try, scientist, but I’m going with my gut on this one.
