After Tyron Woodley's Shitty Performance, Georges St-Pierre Is Once Again Slated To Fight Michael Bisping

DailyMail- After insisting the ship had sailed on Michael Bisping’s touted mega-fight with Georges St-Pierre, UFC president Dana White now claims: ‘That ship fucking turned around and sailed back.’ A clash between GSP and Tyron Woodley had been in the offing but as a cacophony of boos rained down during the welterweight champion’s fight at UFC 214, White changed his mind.

Woodley retained his belt against Demian Maia but it was labelled as the most boring five-round fight ever, with the fewest number of strikes landed in a 25-minute bout.

Death, taxes, and Dana White going back on his word. Benjamin Franklin wrote about those three things in 1789 as the only three certainties of life, and here we are in 2017 with that still proving true. Michael Bisping vs Georges St-Pierre was booked a few months back with a ton of uncertainty surrounding when the fight will actually happen, because they never even gave us a timetable. I think Dana White believed it could headline UFC 213 (International Fight Week card), but with Georges’ wonky eye, he knew full well it’d be until at least the fall. I think this was lost in communication somewhere, and Dana got pissed that he was out of the loop, so he said “FUCK IT, THE FIGHT’S OFF! IT’S NOT HAPPENING. THEY DON’T WANNA FIGHT. THAT SHIP HAS SAILED!” He announced GSP would fight the winner of Tyron Woodley vs Demian Maia for the Welterweight Championship, and Michael Bisping would fight Robert Whittaker, the UFC Interim Middleweight Champion.

Welp, that’s not happening. Any of it. Robert Whittaker’s knee is all fucked up from the Yoel Romero fight, and Tyron Woodley has proven to be one of the most boring champions the UFC has ever seen, so Dana got mad again and decided the original plans are back in place. Woodley tried to say if St-Pierre didn’t fight him, he’d be the “greatest welterweight of all time by default”, but I think his legacy as champ is more like “the guy who got pulled into a draw in his first defense, and went on to have the two worst title fights in UFC history in his next two”.

Personally I’m excited, because while I love Georges St-Pierre, his style doesn’t necessarily lend itself to producing exciting fights, and that paired with the style of Tyron Woodley would lend itself to…take it away, Bisping!
