Whoops! Baltimore Cop Accidentally Uses Body Cam To Film Himself Planting Evidence
Source – This new video from a Baltimore police officer’s body camera in January ranks as not particularly violent but still shocking. The video, obtained by local news station Fox45, appears to show the officer planting a bag of pills in a trash can in an alley then returning to the alley and pulling the drugs out.
Baltimore police body cameras are programmed to save 30 seconds of footage prior to the moment when they’re turned on — a fact this officer either didn’t know or didn’t care about. The fate of the man who was arrested in connection with the planted drugs, who was reportedly jailed on $50,000 bail, is unclear.
Baltimore police also issued a statement: “We take allegations like this very seriously and that’s why we launched an internal investigation into the accusations. We are fortunate to have Body Worn Cameras which provide a perspective of the events as reported.”Police would not say if the officer in question is on active duty while the internal investigation is underway.
Not a good look for the Baltimore PD. It’s pretty clear what’s happening in the video. He takes the pills out, puts them in the can, walks away, then “finds” them a few minutes later. It wasn’t just him either, the two goons standing next to him are just as guilty. I get that officers have each others back but they should’ve said something. You don’t have to turn him in just hit him with a “dude, no.” Apparently not much has changed since Michael Wood blew their spot up a few years ago. Makes you wonder just how deep the corruption runs. I’m sure its no Seven Five but it’s still bad.
And how fucking stupid is this cop? Not just because he planted the drugs because HE FILMED HIMSELF DOING IT. You’re wearing a body cam. Read the manual. It starts filming thirty seconds before it turns on. No idea how thats possible but apparently it is. If I was going to commit a crime I’d make sure my POV cam was turned off ahead of time. Maybe even put some tape over the lens just to be sure. Lock this idiot up and throw away the kew. If not for the crime for the stupidity.
