WSOP Final Tablist Hit A Miracle 5% River To Save Himself From Elimination

7 long, grueling days of poker. 10+ hours each day. Every decision could win or lose you thousands, and then millions of dollars. And then for Bryan Piccioli, it all came down to a miracle river.

There were just 11 players left at that point, with the final 9 making the final table and guaranteed a minimum payout of a million dollars each. Piccioli, one of the best NL Holdem tournament players and who has previously won a bracelet, had his tournament life on the line when he shoved pocket 8’s from the small blind and was snapped by A4 in the big blind. This is a very standard shove and call, and Piccioli’s range is very wide here, and any ace is well ahead of his shoving range (in other words, Bryan will be going all in with a lot of hands here, trying to pick up the blinds and antes, so the person in the big blind will be calling with a lot of hands as well, so having an ace is more often than not a better hand).

And then the flop came.

Sick. With 11th place paying $675,000…but first place paying $8.1 million, those are some very expensive aces.

The turn didn’t help him at all

leaving him with just a 5% chance of winning the hand.

Two 8’s left in the deck. Millions of dollars on the line. And then the river of all rivers came!

A full house! What a sick, sick game poker is. A roller coaster. Congrats to online legend Czar for making the final table, and to stoolie Scott Blumstein for going into the final table as the motherfucking chip leader!

9 players left and he has over 25% of the chips in play. What a beast. The final table plays out Thursday (9 players down to 6) Friday (6 down to 3) and Saturday (3 down to a champion). Even though he’s a Philly guy, good luck to Scott, get rich bro.
