There’s approximately 69 million reasons why the US is better than Canada. But if there’s one thing you goofy Canuck bastards have on us, it’s that Goon: Last of the Enforcers has been out in theaters there since the middle of March. Luckily, we have “War of the Planet of the Apes” out in theaters here so it’s not like we’re really slumming it at all. But still. We need to wait until September 1st for Goon 2 to come out here.
With that being said, I think it’s actually better this way. The movie came out March 17 in Canada. So think about that. Movie comes out, regular season is still going on for a bit, then the Stanley Cup Playoffs. There’s already so much hockey going on that you don’t even have time to give Goon: Last of the Enforcers the proper amount of time and attention that it deserves. But when it comes out in September? Right around when the preseason is about to start and we are starved for hockey? All I’m saying is that Goon 2 is the perfect pregame for the NHL season. So yeah, scratch everything I said above. USA still #1.
P.S. – Pretty sure I’ve been saying this all along but is there a chance that Goon 2 sucks? Yes, obviously. It is a sequel after all and unless it’s “The Mighty Ducks” series, rarely do those end well. But in a time when fighting in hockey is slowly getting phased out, it’s just nice to know that Hollywood has our back. Make Hockey Violent Again.
