Number One Women's Doubles Tennis Player Bethanie Mattek-Sands Suffers Horrifying Knee Injury At Wimbledon And Screams Bloody Murder As She Lies Helpless On The Court
Horrible scene out of Wimbledon today as American and number one women’s doubles tennis player Bethanie Mattek-Sands suffered a terrible knee injury as she ran towards the net and slipped. It was tough to see exactly what happened, but her knee seemed to just completely give out. I’ve never heard screams like that in any sporting event ever. It was like she got shot and was bleeding out. Those screams are stuff you don’t wish on your worst enemies to have. It was maybe a little over the top for a knee injury although I’m assuming she tore all the ligaments possible and was in a state of shock. Literally screaming out “FUCK, HELP ME, HELP ME PLEASE” as she lied helpless on the court. Her opponent came across the net to help, but clearly there was nothing she could do. Where the hell was any paramedic or trainer to sprint on the court?? The girl is legitimately screaming bloody murder, why is everyone standing around like she just sprained her ankle?
Mattek-Sands has been known for her great personality and quirky outfits. She’s always a fan favorite despite being the under dog in a majority of her singles matches. When it comes to doubles with her partner Lucie Safarova, they are nearly unbeatable having won three consecutive grand slam titles entering this year’s Wimbledon. Want to judge me for knowing that stuff? Well I gambled on tennis non-stop in college and it’s quite the rush.
She was eventually stretchered off the court and taken to a nearby hospital. Everyone was in tears on the court including her double partner as she looked on in absolute terror.
Just have to hope it’s not as bad as it looked or sounded, but for a 32 year old woman in tennis, this could be a career-ending situation. Jesus those screams were terrifying.
