Mighty Mouse Talked A BUNCH Of Shit On The UFC So Now Dana White Is Threatening To Close His Division
Statement from Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson regarding Dana White and the UFC’s claims about his next fight, whether or not it’ll be it be Ray Borg/TJ Dillashaw. I wrote about this frenzy here if you don’t know what’s going on.
So basically, here’s what was said in that statement…UFC told Mighty Mouse he had to fight Ray Borg next. He said okay, he asked for pay per view points, one guy said yes, Dana White said “lol bro, literally never”. The UFC told Demetrious that tiny guys weren’t marketable and that a fight between him and Cody Garbrandt wouldn’t sell at all. So Mighty Mouse accepts the Ray Borg fight, Garbrandt gets hurt, and the UFC wants Dillashaw to step in, instead of Ray Borg. Mighty Mouse says no because:
-TJ’s never fought at flyweight, so Johnson is afraid he’d miss weight and the fight wouldn’t count towards the title defense record
-He says there’s “no monetary upside” (I think this is wrong but hey what do I know)
-TJ isn’t a champion so he doesn’t care (huh?)
-UFC demanded he fight Ray Borg, so he wants to stick to that to stick it to them.
After this was put out, Johnson went on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Hour and said that Dana White threatened to shut down the entire 125lb division if Mighty Mouse doesn’t comply to their demands.
My take on this when there was less details was pretty much, “You can’t tell everyone that you’ll accept any fight that comes your way, then pick and choose”, but after reading all of this, assuming it’s true, I’m in support of him again. This is such a classic stick it to your boss move you have to love it. Dana White basically told the pound for pound best fighter in the world that he had to fight Ray Borg or he was fired, and when he accepted, tried to pull a bait and switch. Now Mighty Mouse is like, “Fuck you I already signed my contract. You wanted me to fight Ray Borg? I’m gonna fight Ray Borg.”
HOWEVA, I do really want to see Mighty Mouse vs TJ Dillashaw at 125lbs more than any other fight at that weight class. So I’m conflicted. I respect the move, trashing Dana, the UFC, all of that, but for the fans, give us the fight we want to see.
P.S. Some reddit guy was pissed that the UFC called Mighty Mouse unmarketable so he made the coolest promo ever for him.
