Josh Donaldson Hit A Bomb Into The Fifth Deck In Toronto

Got a bunch of tweets about this one last night like, “Oh my god! Did you see Josh Donaldson’s home run?? It just went into the FIFTH DECK!!” Cool, man. Do you even steroids, bro? That thing barely got up there. One can’t simply watch guys like Mark McGwire, Manny Ramirez and Jose Canseco absolutely crush baseballs into the fifth level in Toronto and then genuinely be impressed when Donaldson barely gets one up there.

But really, the Blue Jays are becoming scary again. I’ve written a bunch of blogs about all of the unfortunate shit that’s happened to them to start the year, losing pretty much three quarters of their 25-man roster to the disabled list just two months into the season. But now? They’re starting to get those key pieces back, and the most important piece of all is Donaldson, who had been sidelined since April 13.

After Toronto’s 6-4 win over the Reds on Tuesday, the Blue Jays have now won 13 of their last 19 games, which is the second best record in the American League, fourth best in the majors, over that span. Since May 10, they’re averaging 5.79 runs per game, which is the highest mark in all of baseball. The AL East just got a lot more interesting.
