Reading Books Is Hard, But I'm Going To Do This For David Ortiz -- Section 10 Podcast Ep. 91

On Episode 91 of the Section 10 Podcast, the Alfredo Aceves episode, we open with a discussion on how weird it was that Aceves picked his jersey number to honor Dennis Rodman. Just a weird move. Then we dive into David Ortiz’s new book that came out this past week, which got us off the rails and into a discussion about reading books in general. It’s hard to carve out time to read books, and we talked about how we probably aren’t far away from audio books selling more units than the hard copies due to the success of podcasts. This led to a discussion about going to prison intentionally so that we have free time to read books and what crimes we’d commit to equal the prison sentence we’d feel were enough to read a decent amount of books.

We got back on track after that, talking about Ortiz’s comments about wanting a retirement ceremony like Derek Jeter’s, how it was too soon to retire Jeter’s number and even more of a too soon situation to retire Ortiz’s, how the Red Sox annoyingly need to make a celebration out of everything, and some general Red Sox talk — how the lineup has a bunch of singles hitters, what lineup changes we’d make, how good Eduardo Rodriguez has been this year, and a full blown mental breakdown over Drew Pomeranz.

We finish this one out with some Down in the DM — Would you rather never go to a sporting event again or go to Chris Sale starts where they kill 100 fans for every strikeout? How many games do you have to watch per season to be considered a real fan? And a listener wants us to name her cat, which turns into a discussion about how it’s a red flag if a girl prefers cats over dogs.
