Blueshirts Emphatically Make It A Series Again With 4-1 Win

Now THIS is how I saw a lot of this series going. An absolutely dominant first period ended with a 2-goal lead and was doubled in the second before Pageau (again) potted the Sens lone goal right before the second intermission. Ottawa had a bit of a jump to start the third but Lundqvist was barely threatened all night long as his Rangers made it look simple. They doubled the Senators in scoring chances and TRIPLED them in high-danger opportunities while possessing the puck in chunks. Hard to poke a hole anywhere in this one.

Also looks like AV got the message regarding his defensive rotation. Skjei & Smith played a strong 20 minutes each while Staal & Holden averaged about 15 between them. While I didn’t see anything awful from 18 or 22 it was pretty obvious the Blueshirts were a much more aggressive team in both ends while 76 & 42 patrolled the ice. As usual, they were involved in more chances for than against while being strong in front of Lundqvist. You just gotta hope Vigneault doesn’t hold their third period penalties (Smith’s was careless, Skjei’s was bullshit) against them.

The Rangers proved they can in fact dominate this Ottawa team. Sens had no answer all night long. While the rest of these games most likely won’t be this easy, tonight’s effort proves this series is far from over. The Blueshirts are clearly the better squad. Just avoid the Jekyll & Hyde routine Thursday night and all of a sudden we got a best of three.

VIVA LA BLUESHIRTS!!!
