Shout Out To The Knicks For Being The Last Team To Beat LeBron James In A First Round Playoff Game

I realize I’ve been a little tough on the Knicks the last few days weeks months years that I have blogged them. But I have decided to turn over a new leaf and start grading them on a curve like the slow kid in school. While other franchises can base their success on championships, wins, or periods of sustained competitiveness, the Knicks can hang their hat on being the answer to random trivia questions. And I’m not just talking about the answer to questions like “Which is the most depressing franchise on the face of the Earth?” or “Which team found a new way to rip its fans hearts out by its owner’s feud with one of the most beloved players in franchise history turning physical in 2017?”. No, no, no. The Knicks are also the last team to deal the best player of his generation a first round loss. Take THAT haters! Yeah the confetti seemed a bit much at the time for a loss that extended the series only one more game. Some would say it was because it was the Knicks first playoff win in 11 years after going on an impressive 0-13 run. But maybe, just maybe, the Madison Square Garden Party Planning Committee had a feeling the Knicks were only going to get 6 more playoff wins before the Phil Jackson Era arrived a few years later and sucked any and all momentum out of the franchise. Who needs rings and parades when you can instead be a footnote in history? Not Knicks fans. We get to remember that glorious day when Baron Davis, Mike Bibby, Landry Fields, and Steve Novak helped dole out a loss to the Heat on their way to their first championship with LeBron, Wade, and Bosh. #KNICKSTAPE, baby!!!
