Extremely Loud Fucking Interrupts Tennis Match at the Sarasota Open
Slate – On Tuesday night in Sarasota, Florida, young American Frances Tiafoe took on countryman Mitchell Krueger in a first-round match at a tournament on the second-tier ATP Challenger Tour. Tiafoe was serving in the second set—it was Love-15, if you must know—when strange noises began to waft toward the bleachers at James T. Driscoll Stadium.
“Well, that is the most bizarre situation,” said announcer Mike Cation on the Challenger Tour livestream. “I don’t know how to put this, folks, but somebody’s phone going off in the stands,” Cation continued. He then paused for 10 seconds before delivering his final verdict: “And it was an adult video.” Cation, though, subsequently reported on Twitter that his initial analysis was incorrect—that the fans and players were hearing nontelephonic intercourse.
As you can hear at the two-minute mark in the video below, the sounds continued even as Tiafoe won two straight points to take a 30-15 lead. The 19-year-old eventually shouted, “It can’t be that good!”
Tiafoe won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Congratulations to everyone involved.
I kind of like tennis. Tennis is fun to play. Tennis is sometimes fun to watch. If it’s a big match, a Federer vs Nadal for the Wimbledon title, a Djokovich vs Murray at Ashe Stadium, the big time heavyweights going back and forth with legacies on the line. I get down with that.
Frances Tiafoe vs. Mitchell Krueger at the Sarasota Open? Not so much. Doesn’t qualify very high on the excitement list. Can’t think of many things less interesting to me than watching Tiafoe V Krueger in the first round of a second tier ATP Challenger Tour. What I’m saying is it doesn’t surprise me at all that these two lovebirds lost interest pretty quickly and started banging each other out in the bathroom or custodial closet or middle of the stands for all I know. Sometimes you don’t want to watch two no names volley. Sometimes you want to fuck.
In fact that’s kind of a good measuring stick for where you’re at in your career. If the fans have sex with no concern at all about the noise they’re making right in the middle of your big match – you’ve got some work to do. Step it up fellas.
