The Cubs Gave Fans A Little Taste Of What Their World Series Rings Will Look Like
Tonight’s the big night! I have no doubt that the rings are going to look amazing, but that’s a lot of pressure to come up with the perfect World Series ring when you’ve had 108 years to come up with the design. Speaking of the 108 years, I believe the rumor that the rings are going to include 108 diamonds is actually true. I think that’s pretty cool. I hope that Cubs fans don’t think that’s a negative. As a Red Sox fan myself, I know what it’s like to spend every single year having how many years it’s been since your team has won a World Series being thrown in your face.
Now, I can look back on 86 years and it has no negative connotation to it. It brings back fond memories now, and I hope that Cubs fans look at this the same way. If the Cubs hadn’t won the World Series, then the number 108 would’ve became 109 all season long, and hearing those words “one hundred and nine years” would’ve made your skin crawl. But now, I hope that whenever somebody says 108 years, Cubs fans can smile, because they know that was the year that put the wait to rest. It went from suffering through 108 years of waiting to wearing those 108 years on your finger like a badge of honor.
To all the Stoolie Cubs fans out there, enjoy the ring ceremony tonight. You’ve literally been waiting your whole fucking lives for it, and it’s a memory that you’ll never forget as a baseball fan.
