Wake Up With The Angels Coming Back From Being Down 9-3 In The Bottom Of The Ninth To Sweep The Mariners
Tough blow for Gambling Dave yesterday. The Mariners had an 8-1 lead in the top of the seventh, and carried a 9-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth, before blowing the lead and the game following a seven-run rally by the Angels in the ninth. Must’ve been wild to watch thousands of your own dollars just evaporate into thin air like that, five hits and four walks later.
Don’t get used to performances like that from Edwin Diaz, either. That dude is straight up filthy; he just didn’t have it on Sunday. As a 23-year-old, he hasn’t even been in the league for a full calendar year yet, but Sunday’s outing — three earned runs on three hits and a pair of walks — represents his first of 52 major league appearances in which he’s allowed more than two earned runs, and just the fourth time that he’s walked more than a single batter in an appearance. The comeback win for the Angels completes a three-game sweep of Seattle, and drops the Mariners to 1-6 to start the season.
