I Can't Believe Sergio Garcia Just Won The Masters
In his 74th major, Sergio Garcia finally breaks through and wins the Masters. It honestly felt 10 different times today like “oh this is when Sergio drops off.” When he hit it into the bushes on 10. When he yanked his tee shot behind a tree on 11. When he hooked his tee ball into the bushes on 13. When he missed his short birdie putt on 16. When he missed his short birdie putt on 18.
But no. He persevered. With ALL THAT he still went birdie-eagle on 14 and 15, didn’t make a bogey after the 11th hole, posted a 3-under 69 (nice) and birdied the first playoff hole to win the 81st Masters.
Augusta National is just built to produce drama. It always does.
Congrats to Sergio on finally breaking through — I have no idea why I like him now, but I just do. Surreal to say this: Sergio Garcia is not only a major champ, but a Masters Champ… on Seve’s 60th birthday no less.
