Brad Marchand probably isn’t going to win the MVP this year. He’s certainly deserving of being in the Hart Trophy conversation but facts are facts, ending the season on a suspension doesn’t usually get you mentioned with the Crosbys of the world.
Well, guess what? Don’t have to be a most valuable player to be an MVP. You can be the most valuable pest. Hockey world likes to call you a rat? They think you’re just an agitator? Fine, let them think that while you go out there and get yourself firmly planted in the top 5 of both goals and points in the NHL. That’s some play from a pest.
PS – I loved Marchand’s response when questioned about his suspension. Basically said he plays how he plays and everyone else can go fuck themselves. I’m all about that. Everyone loves to get up in arms every time there’s a little pecker spear but tough titties, that happens. If Marchand needs to play with that fire and have people freak out about “cheap shots” in order to play his best then that’s just fine by me. Do your thing, MVP. Tell Doutchin to quit whining and wear a cup next time.
