Yankees Future Cy Young Stud James Kaprielian Suffers Another Elbow Injury...Time To Panic
ROUGH news here on this rainy Thursday afternoon. Coming off a horrible Michael Pineda start yesterday, we get news that future ace of the staff James Kaprielian’s elbow pain has resurfaced. As you may recall, he missed all but three starts last year because of constant elbow problems, highlighted by a flexor tendon strain. Kaprielian comes off a very good stint in the Arizona Fall League followed by a few appearances at the back end of Spring Training. All seemed okay until this news popped up. He has the best stuff of anyone in the Yankees system with a fastball that tops out at 99, so this news of elbow trouble resurfacing is depressing and frustrating. You don’t want to say it, but Tommy John surgery is going to be talked about. Hopefully by shutting down throwing for a few weeks the injury subsides and he restarts his throwing program in a month. That would be best case scenario, but we’re likely looking at a bad situation. Kaprielian was set to start the year in Single A, but was a hopeful to crack the 2017 big league squad later this year in some capacity. Time to hold our collective breaths.
Fuck.
