An NFL Team Asked Kutztown Guard Jordan Morgan How Long He Could Keep His Eyes Open and Made Him Do A Staring Contest During One Of His Interviews

Penn Live – The run-up to the 2017 NFL draft has been, quite literally, an eye-opener for Kutztown guard Jordan Morgan.

A Philadelphia native and four-year starter for the Bears, Morgan is still new to the feeling of having his NFL dream well within his massive reach. By most accounts, he’s a virtual lock to hear his name called in the middle rounds.

And then, of course, was the actual staring contest one NFL team put Morgan through during his interviews. For all the tall tales of strange or invasive questions at the combine, that was as weird as it got for Morgan, he said.

“They were just getting to know me and what I knew about football,” Morgan said. “The strangest thing I had asked of me at the combine was how long I could have my eyes open in a staring contest. I thought it was weird, but it’s one of those things you don’t question on the spot.

“I didn’t blink at all. He told me I could stare at anything. I just focused on a water bottle. I don’t know how long it was, but it was pretty long. My eyes were fogging up. I couldn’t see after. He was just like, ‘I got what I need. You can stop now.'”

All the shit leading up to the NFL Draft is the best. The Combine, the scouting, the interviews. So many great stories each one even more ridiculous than the last. Never know what you’re gonna get – a GM asking if your mom is a whore? An employee asking if you wear a G-String? A rep asking if you’re a cat or a dog? A coach asking how long you can keep your eyes open then making you stare at a water bottle until your retinas glaze over?

Total crap shoot.
