Patrick Ewing Can't Keep Son on Staff at Georgetown Due to Nepotism Rule

Patrick Ewing with Coach John Thompson

I’m not one to make a lot of guarantees, but I guarantee this is the most ironic thing you will read today. Georgetown has a nepotism rule. Yes, the same Georgetown that lets John Thompson II handpick his son and his son’s replacement has a nepotism rule that won’t let Patrick Ewing keep Patrick Ewing Jr., on staff despite being the director of basketball operations for the last two years.

Nope, never once seen any nepotism here at Georgetown:

In all seriousness it’s a joke of a rule. Patrick Ewing Jr., was a logical decision to be on his dad’s staff. He has experience at Georgetown and was a decent player there as well. As I and everyone else in the world mentioned when Ewing got hired the key would be who he puts on his staff. That will determine whether he’s a successful college coach or not. Right now this is a little bit of a blow just because Ewing Jr., is used to the grind and can get out and recruit.

Wonder when the school will be bullied by a 75-year old man next to change this rule?
