Roman Reigns Getting Viciously Verbally Abused By The Crowd At Raw For 5 Straight Minutes Was An All Time Wrestling Moment

Holy shit. It went from funny, to sad, to downright vicious. Chants of “Fuck You Roman”, “Shut The Fuck Up”, “Go Away”, and many more as Reigns just stood in the middle of the ring and took it all in. Just loud and clear on television, with no attempt to drown them out or change their course of action. One of the coolest, albeit wildest, and kinda saddest segments in quite some time.

And the thing is, this sort of reaction is EXACTLY what Vince wants. I mean sure, he probably would prefer the fans cheer for him, but generating this sort of reaction, that sort of nuclear heat, is very hard to do. It’s probably not great that an entire arena was telling the top guy to shut the fuck up, but as we all know, the opposite of love isn’t hate, it’s indifference, and there is absolutely no indifference when it comes to Roman.

Now of course, this was your typical “Raw after Mania” crowd. The smarkiest crowd there is. For a lot of the night, they cared more about putting themselves over than reacting to the show in front of them. During the Cruiserweight match, Neville was legit being dropped on his head in absurd spots and the crowd was chanting about a volleyball. I generally love the crowds after Mania/Rumble, but sometimes they try a little too hard to steal the show than to supplement, or simply to enjoy it.

So that’s why I don’t think anything will change with Reigns. The smarks will hate him, but the kids will continue to root for their superhero with the cool tattoos who takes down the bad guys with Superman punches. He played to the crowd last night, but I don’t expect much to be different from the status quo a couple weeks down the road.
