Welcome to the first installment of my new graps series. For the next twenty days, I’m going to talk to you guys about my personal favorite WrestleMania moments of all time. Keep in mind I was born in 1998, and then raised on Golden Era stuff, so the bulk of my list will take place on either end of that spectrum.

20. Butterbean Knocks Bart Gunn Into Another Dimension

It took fifteen WrestleManias, but finally, a SHOOT FIGHTER showed these pro wrasslin’ boys what it means to step inside a squared circle.

In 1998, Vince McMahon’s crazy ass brain came up with Brawl For All; a non-scripted boxing tournament among pro wrestlers. A rumor started floating around the locker room that “Dr Death” Steve Williams was a great boxer, so Vince saw this as an opportunity to get him over as a threat to Stone Cold Steve Austin. Unfortunately for the company, things didn’t go as planned, and Bart Gunn won the tournament in a massive upset. As “punishment” for beating the favorite, Gunn was matched against Butterbean at WrestleMania, and it sure as hell was punishment.

Butterbean’s KO of Bart Gunn was the most brutal knockout in the history of combat sports. It’s truly the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. There have been boxers that died in the ring that didn’t get hit as hard as Bart Gunn. I wasn’t even born yet and I felt that punch in the womb. Gunn was fired shortly after dying in the ring and now works as an electrician.

Check in tomorrow for my nineteenth favorite Mania Moment.
