Star Wars- Michael Kenneth Williams is going from his hometown of Brooklyn, New York, to a galaxy far, far away. StarWars.com is thrilled to announce that Williams has officially signed on for the upcoming untitled Han Solo Star Wars movie. Williams comes to Star Wars having played many memorable roles in both TV and film, including Omar Little in The Wire and Albert “Chalky” White in Boardwalk Empire, bringing charisma, humanity, and nobility to all his performances.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are directing the untitled Han Solo Star Wars movie from a script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, with a cast that includes Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Thandie Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, with Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca.

The untitled Han Solo movie, set prior to the events of the original Star Wars trilogy, is slated for release on May 25, 2018.

Ohhhh hell yeah, Omar is coming motherfuckazzzzzzz. The only dude in the universe that Darth Vader is afraid of is trading in a sawed off for a lightsaber and I love it (okay probably more like a blaster but who gives a shit?). Just look at that cast. I’ll admit that I don’t know much about the lead Alden Ehrenreich and pulling off a good Han Solo is obviously paramount to the film’s success. But that is a group of heavy hitters. Khaleesi, Omar, Childish Gambino and Billy Hoyle is a HELL of a golf foursome, let alone the supporting roles of a movie that probably has the most Star Wars buzz outside of Episodes 8 and 9. In fact the hardest part of this movie will be reminding myself that Omar and Khaleesi aren’t in a galaxy far, far away but instead they are other characters that I wouldn’t take a bullet for. I still get crossed up when Coach Taylor is trying to take down Leo in Wolf of Wall Street.

And while the Star Wars fan in me would have been nervous as hell with this news five years ago after being disappointed by the prequels starring big names, post-Rogue One me is chugging all the Kool-Aid that Mickey and the gang are pouring down our throats these days. I had no clue if Disney would handle this franchise correctly, but in my book they are 2-for-2 with loud extra base hits both times.

P.S. Picking between Omar and Han Solo is basically the most impossible question ever to someone that loves Star Wars and The Wire.
