Apparently We’re In A “Perfect Storm” For Legalized Sports Betting And I Want To Be In The Eye Of The Storm

Yahoo! Finance- The American Gaming Association, the foremost lobbying group on behalf of casinos and gaming operators, began ramping up its PR effort to repeal PASPA (the 1992 federal law that banned sports betting) well before the presidential election. But now the organization says that a “perfect storm” is brewing in its favor. “We have a perfect storm coming together,” says AGA president Geoff Freeman. “You have leagues, you have broadcasters, you have law enforcement, you have the casino industry—everyone is acknowledging that we are better off having a regulated environment.” And there is renewed optimism thanks to Donald Trump, a former casino owner turned POTUS.

It. Is. So. Lit. I’m aware that these type of articles come around every couple of weeks yet this one has some promise. It got my dick hard. The article dropped a bunch of stats on us along with highlighting everything happening that could lead to our lives being changed forever. In the past year an NHL team has decided to open up shop in Vegas, an NFL team is prepared to go to Vegas, a Presidential Debate happened in Vegas, and most importantly Trump won the election. Having a former casino tycoon become President seems like it could be the final stepping stone of this quest.

I obviously gamble either way, as does everyone I respect, but the thought of being able to do it legally is something else. I envision everyone meeting at a designated area in town around noon on Sundays to discuss action before 1pm kick-off. I envision liking the 2nd half over as I’m at Madison Square Garden for a St. John’s/Marquette game and being able to put in action at a kiosk right next to the beer stand under my seats. I have a dream of hitting the bars on a Friday night and being able to bet a Portland-Gonzaga basketball game starting at 11pm on the spot. That’s the world I one day want to live in. There’s no reason for that dream not to come true. $5 billion was bet on the Super Bowl a couple of weeks ago. 5 BILLION. For scale, that’s 50,000x Afroman’s net worth. 95% of that action was placed illegally. I would definitely want a cut of that if I was the government.

Let me finish this with a tale- Last night I took the over in Knicks/Cavs game. The total was 223.5. I bought down a half point to 223. I didn’t watch the whole game and checked the final score once I went to bed. It was 119-104. Push city. A walk is as good as a hit therefore a push is as good as a win. I was happy as a clam getting my money’s worth. Next thing I know the final 3 pointer of the game was ruled a 2 pointer so I go to sleep in a rut. I woke from my slumber today to an abundance of tweets saying how the final wound up being 119-104 after more consideration of the shot. THAT is the whirlwind of gambling. Gives you ups, downs, and everything in between just like our good friend alcohol. Non-Nevada residents should be able to experience that shit legally. I’m shooting for legalization by 2020.
