A Japanese Pool Player Gave What's Easily One Of The Greatest Post-Game Interviews Of All Time

Fox Sports – Naoyuki Oi isn’t exctly a huge star in professional billiards, but he’s certainly got flair when he gets in front of a camera.

Fresh off winning a match to reach the quarterfinals at the World Pool Masters in Gibraltar, Oi disregarded the interviewer’s first question and launched into an utterly bizarre spectacle.

“Mmmm. My name is Naoyuki Oi. Today very lucky. Congratulations MEEEEEE!!!,” he began and, well, just watch the rest.

When you’re a deaf guy but still want to brag after bringing a chick home from the bar:

But overall what a glorious mix of broken English, unbridled enthusiasm, and fun confidence by Naoyuki Oi this video was. Maybe he’s putting it on a little to go viral or whatever (which still isn’t the most reasonable expectation by a competitive pool player on Sky Sports latenight time-filler programming) but I enjoyed every second of him both mangling and perfectly capturing the English language in a variety of ways. There’s no coach-speak clichés like you’d get even at this weekend’s NBA All-Star festivities, just a Japanese dude proud of his accomplishments, entertaining as fuck, and ready to bring the heat to the holes in the next round. It’s so pure and I love it. Naoyuki Oi, you’re a star in my book. Congratulations you!
