In An Unforgiving World, All I Ask Is That I Be Able To Trust My TV

The Verge- Vizio got in trouble with the FTC this week and had to pay $2.2 million to settle charges around having monitored the viewing habits on more than 11 million TVs without consent over the course of two years. The main problem was that Vizio TVs had tracking features turned on by default, instead of an opt-in setting like many other manufacturers use (and, as you’ll see, sometimes hide or trick you into accepting). Newer Vizio TVs that run the company’s SmartCast system have the tracking turned off by default.
It’s a dog eat dog world out there. Can’t trust anyone these days. You think you have a confidant and they stab you in the back. So who is always there for you? Who can you always rely on? Your good friend, television. All you have to do is flip on a classic episode of DD&D and life is swell again. So how can something I’ve given such love and trust to do me dirty like this? Reeling me in, making me feel safe, and then reading my diary when I’m the most vulnerable. I thought my television was my trust tree. I thought we loved each other. And all it wanted was my deepest, darkest secrets. It’s 2017 and consent is needed. I guess I’m going to have to stick to the old 13 inch VCR/TV combos. That fugazzi technology isn’t tracking shit. That way if I want to settle into my chair in my Glenncave at 2am and throw on Gigolos, Cathouse, or the 2014 AVN Awards on demand I should be able to without being spied on. This is America. I will cum anywhere I want!
