Spuds MacKenzie Is Coming Back In Ghost Form For A Super Bowl Commercial

I know this commercial probably makes no fucking sense to a good portion of the #GoPresGo crowd, but Spuds MacKenzie was the Taco Bell chihuahua before the Taco Bell chihuahua. Shit that reference may be too old as well. But regardless, Spuds MacKenzie was an American icon back in the day and it’s great to see that he will be coming back on one of our finest days as a nation. Super Bowl Sunday. Do I think that it is kinda bullshit that Spuds still has a leash in the afterlife? Of course. Once you die as a dog, you should never have to worry about a leash or an invisible fence again. There should be nothing but legs to hump and table scraps for as far as the eye can see in Doggy Heaven. But seeing Spuds get his Jacob Marley on is the best Bud Light news I could get short of a full Bud Bowl game taking place at halftime instead of Lady Gaga’s bullshit.

Also I’m kind of torn about how I feel about Super Bowl commercials being released before the actual game. Part of me likes the surprise of seeing a commercial worth millions of dollars like opening your presents on Christmas morning. Watch the commercials as they were meant to be seen; when you are full of light beer and buffalo chicken dip. But the other side of things is that most people will be watching the Super Bowl at a party. So that means people are yapping during the commercials, you have 1000 bets to track, and will likely need the occasional injection of Twitter directly into the veins to get your fix. So sometimes it’s nice to go in loosey goosey and just enjoy the night. Kinda like cracking stick before going out for the night. A little bit of clarity in your mind can go a long way.

Regardless, DirecTV absolutely BONED coming out with this commercial months before the Super Bowl. This would have absolutely been the biggest winner of the night on Sunday, NFL teams included, if it debuted on Super Bowl Sunday.

P.S. I have no clue if I used that semicolon correctly in my second paragraph, but it just felt right. Shooter shoot, bloggers blog.
