The Rest Of The NBA All Stars Were Announced Last Night, Who Got Snubbed?
After finally getting over the travesty that was the NBA All Star Starters, here is the group of guys that will fill out the rest of the rosters. Hard to argue any of these guys aren’t deserving, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t some people who missed the cut who also had a case.
When you look at the Western Conference, this is where things get really, really tough. It’s crazy to me that neither Dame OR McCollum have made an all star team each of the last two seasons, and if this is about who is having the best season THIS year, you could make the argument that one of them should have made it in over Klay. It’s interesting that guys like DeAndre made the roster for the first time in his career, but are we sure Rudy Gobert isn’t having the better season? He trails Jordan by just a few rebounds, but blocks more shots and has a higher PER on a Jazz team that is actually pretty fucking good. It’s also hard to fathom that a player like Karl Anthony Towns, who is clearly either #1 or #2 in terms of young big men in the league depending on who you ask, can’t crack this squad. That might be the biggest snub for me in the West. A guy throws up 23/12/1.5 with a 23 PER and that’s not good enough? That’s what happens when your team underachieves I suppose.
For the East, I can’t believe Kyrie/DeRozen/Lowry/Isaiah/Kemba/Wall all made it. I thought for sure at least one of them wasn’t going to get the nod, and maybe that should have been the case because there is NO way that Joel Embiid isn’t an All Star. I know he’s on a minutes restriction and all that bullshit, but the impact he makes on that Sixers team is RIDICULOUS. They are like +56 or something with him on the court or something wild like that. After what that city and fanbase has been through, adding in the fact that Embiid is LEGIT, you have to give him the nod, you just have to. This game is about the fans isn’t it? I also don’t really get the Millsap selection, when you have guys like Andre Drummond, Whiteside, and Godzingis all having better seasons.
What’s wild is we didn’t even talk about guys like Jokic, or Parker, or Aldridge etc. The NBA has so much talent right now it’s impossible to include everyone but holy shit. I’m only 29, but I can’t really remember a time where the league had this much young talent that was already this good. Add in what is supposed to be a stacked 2017 Draft and it’s a great time to follow a league where everyone already knows who will be in the Finals.
Who would you say was the biggest snub? Discuss.
