Golfer Fractures Skull After Another Player Attacks With An Iron On The Green
Golf Channel — …a Texas man has been hospitalized with a fractured skull after being attacked with a golf club.
According to CBS Dallas/Fort Worth, Michael Plumlee, 27, and three friends were on the 17th green at Indian Creek Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas, last week when the foursome behind them, including suspect Kevin Keo Sivilay, hit approach shots at the putting surface.
Witnesses say Plumblee took the group’s golf balls and threw them off the green, sending the 42-year-old Sivilay into a fit of rage in which he hit Plumlee in the head with an iron repeatedly, even continuing after Plumlee fell to the ground.
Plumblee was knocked unconscious and remains hospitalized with a skull fracture.
Sivilay, who has a prior conviction for car burglary, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and could face up to 20 years in prison.
I know what you’re thinking and no the attacker was not Elin Nordegren. It was apparently some convicted criminal psychopath who hit into guys on a par 3, got rattled when the guys threw their balls of the green, and repeatedly attacked and beat one of the dudes.
Look, slow play sucks. Have to imagine that’s what started this whole thing. The problem is everyone always blames slow play on the group directly in front of them — but typically it’s a massive trickling effect. And, even if it is the group in front of you, heavily frowned upon in the golf community to attack with an iron. Definitely not in line with universal golf etiquette. There’s stepping in a guy’s line while he’s lining up a putt and then there’s delivering an 8-iron to a guy’s skull while he’s unconscious on the ground. Both of those things are frowned upon but one more than the other.
Ts and Ps with Michael Plumlee. No one should have to suffer from some wacko losing his mind on the golf course.
