AlabamaUniversity of Alabama standout senior linebacker Tim Williams was arrested by UAPD Thursday morning and charged with carrying a pistol without a permit.

According to court records, UAPD officers approached Williams’ Chevrolet Impala in the parking lot at Publix on University Blvd. UAPD smelled marijuana and upon search of the vehicle found a clear plastic bag containing marijuana in the center console, according to court records, and a Glock 41 pistol under the driver’s seat.

Williams was in the passenger’s seat and another man was in the driver’s seat. The driver told officers that the marijuana was his, and that he was holding it for a friend named “Brandon Chicken.”

Williams told police that the gun was his and that he’d purchased in from a gun store in Louisiana nearly a month ago. The gun store gave him a temporary permit for the gun, he said, but he didn’t have it in his possession. Williams produced the receipt for the gun to show officers, saying that he thought it would qualify for a pistol permit.

Two options here, and since I won’t insult the intelligence of Alabama police officers, I’m going to assume it’s the latter – a little wink wink, local police helping out a star football player. Oh that weed in your pocket and that I smell in the air isn’t yours? You’re just holding it for your friend Brandon Chicken? Right right. Brandon, I know Brandon Chicken.

Honestly I’m sure if guns weren’t such a hot topic right now he would have been free to go completely, but just ending up with not carrying a permit isn’t quite as bad as having some drug charges on top of it. Thank God for Brandon Chicken. Best imaginary friend a guy could have, especially one who wants to keep playing for Nick Saban.
