In 2014, NYC Terrorist's Dad Tipped Off FBI & Said Son Was A Terrorist
NY Times — Two years before the bombings that Ahmad Khan Rahami is suspected of carrying out in New York and New Jersey, his father told the police that he suspected his son might be involved in terrorism, prompting a review by federal agents, according to two law enforcement officials.
The father, Mohammad Rahami, in a brief interview on Tuesday, said that at the time he told agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his concern, his son had just had a fight with another of his sons and stabbed the man, leading to a criminal investigation.
“Two years ago I go to the F.B.I. because my son was doing really bad, O.K.?” he said. “But they check almost two months, they say, ‘He’s O.K., he’s clean, he’s not a terrorist.’ I say O.K.”
He added: “Now they say he is a terrorist. I say O.K.”

Also worth noting that the “my son’s a terrorist” claim is also being reported as made “out of spite” by the father.
NBC News — The Rahami family first appeared on the FBI’s radar two years ago after police responded on Aug. 25, 2014 to a report that he’d stabbed his brother in the left leg. Officers learned from a neighbor that Mohammad Rahami yelled at him, saying words to the effect of, “You’re a terrorist. Get out of my house,” two federal law enforcement officials told NBC News. Questioned by the FBI, the elder Rahami said he made the statement “out of spite” and that it was not true. The FBI, which had opened what’s called an assessment, dropped the case. Also, the domestic violence charge against Rahami was later dropped.

Not ideal. Who knows what the hell is or isn’t true coming out of this father’s mouth, but kinda feel like if someone’s dad calls the FBI, says son’s a terrorist, says he’s talking to bad men overseas, the FBI should stop him before he plants like 10 bombs and blows up Portnoy’s trashcan. That just makes sense to me. Feel like that’s a big part of the FBI’s performance review.
“Hey how’d we do on stopping terrorists whose dads told us they were terrorists?”
“Eh not great, NYC/NJ guy set off 3 bombs and terrorized all of New York City and New Jersey from Uptown Riggs all the way down to some place called Elizabeth.”
All seriousness, it’s shitty and scary to see people like this slip through the cracks. He’s not the only one. These recents have all traveled abroad to terroristy places only to return and carry out attacks.
Are we doing enough to monitor American citizens’ travel to terror hotbeds? We discuss tonight on #KellyFile. pic.twitter.com/b6SNgZqTp1

This is when my impenetrable belief in the NSA (and that Snowden is a traitorous dingleberry) comes in. You gotta monitor the fuck out of people. Everyone. Spy, listen, watch. Do whatever the hell you have to do to make sure that you intercept any and all communications that could endanger the good people of this country. Even after the FBI “investigated” this terrorist loser in 2014 and determined he was okay, they shoulda been monitoring the fuck out of him. He shouldn’t have been able to make a call, send an email, take a shit or fall asleep on a bar floor without the FBI knowing all about it. He DEFINITELY shouldn’t have been able to plant multiple bombs and terrorize NYC for multiple days** without the FBI knowing it.
**we barely even knew anything was going on and actually screamed and yelled in annoyance when our cabs took 2x as long because of all the personnel on the streets Saturday night.
The point is it’s embarrassing to the FBI that this dude was on their radar, was (even if out of spite) associated with the word terrorist, traveled to terrorist-as-fuck places, then returned to set off several bombs and injure dozens of people in an effort to kill innocent Americans. That’s bad and we need to clean that shit up if we’re going to prevent terrorism.
Having said that, local authorities did a fantastic job capturing this loser after the WANTED alert went out. Phone was still buzzing and he was in handcuffs. Just maybe woulda been nice to snag him before the bombs went off.
Shout out to all the NYPD/NJ cops and the FBI. That was QUICK work. Gonna have to do better than that to fuck with this city.
