Some Nerd Is Trying To Sue A Youth Hockey League Because He Got Punched In The Head At A Game
ALBANY — New York’s highest court is weighing whether a youth hockey league is responsible for fighting among spectators because it didn’t eject them from the arena as tensions rose.
Raymond Pink alleges it’s the Rome Youth Hockey Association’s fault he was punched in the head by Matthew Ricci, who later pleaded guilty to assault.
“The onus is on youth hockey to nip it in the bud,” Pink’s attorney Andrew Kirby told the Court of Appeals…The seven-member court is expected to rule next month whether to uphold lower courts and let the case go to trial.
What. A. Pussssssssssy.
Anybody who knows anything knows that when you go to a youth hockey game as a parent, there’s a strong chance you’re going to catch a fist. Facts are facts. The only ting hockey parents love more than thinking their son is the next Wayne Gretzky is fighting the other parents in the stands. Drop your kids off at the rink, down a few Labatt’s, start chirping the refs, yell back at the other parents who are yelling at you for yelling at the refs, get in a fight to sober yourself up, game over, drive home, rinse and repeat. That’s the life of a hockey parent right there. NOWHERE in that itinerary does it say “be a little bitch and sue the league because you got punched in the head”. But apparently poor wittle Raymond Pink didn’t get the memo. This must have been the first year he put his kid in hockey. Gotta imagine they were a soccer family before this or something because I can’t wrap my head around how any hockey parent could be this up in arms over a little minor assault.
All I’m saying is that fights happen all the time at youth hockey games. And if we went around suing every parent who has ever gotten into a fight at their kid’s hockey games, well then we’d have the highest incarceration rate per capita in the world. It would be like locking up anybody who has ever sold an ounce of weed before. Now I don’t have an overabundance of faith in the judicial system. I’ve watched “The Night Of” before. But there’s just no shot this case an hold up in a court of law. This is America after all.
